We get this question all the time: “Do I really need your belt?”
The short answer? Yes.
Can an OEM Polaris belt work in a pinch? Absolutely. If you are on the trail, far from camp, or just need to get the machine home, an OEM belt can still get the job done.
But for the best performance, proper calibration, and longest life from your DURACLUTCH system, we strongly recommend running the DURABELT.
Our belt is manufactured by MBL, one of the premium belt manufacturers in the industry, and it was specifically selected and designed to work with the DURACLUTCH system.
The biggest reason? Width.
The DURABELT is wider than the OEM Polaris belt. That width matters because the entire clutch calibration is designed around it. Belt width directly affects:
- Clutch engagement characteristics
- RPM control
- Shift calibration
- Backshifting performance
- Belt grip and clamping force
- Heat management
When you run the correct belt width, the clutch system operates exactly the way it was engineered to.
An OEM belt can still function, especially in an emergency or temporary situation, but it changes how the clutch system behaves. Over time, that can affect drivability, calibration consistency, heat levels, and overall belt longevity.
The DURABELT was chosen because it delivers:
- Better fitment
- Smoother operation
- Improved durability
- More consistent performance
- Longer service life
- Reduced heat and slipping
That becomes especially important on machines with:
- Larger tires
- Tracks
- Heavy loads
- Lift kits
- High elevation riding
- Aggressive trail or work use
So do you need a DURABELT? You bet!
